It could be worse

Soft sculpture: yarn stitched on reclaimed fabric, then stuffed in the shape of a large pillow
Approx 93x68x15cm, when laid flat

The phrase, It could be worse, is repeatedly stitched in two rows, like a mantra or invocation, on reclaimed fabric. By using pale pink yarn on pale pink fabric, the stitched text is hard to read from a distance, making it like a whisper. It’s a somewhat loaded phrase, spoken by others to console us in times of pain and hardship, and often used in self-talk, when trying to comfort ourselves. It could be worse. I’m hoping the squishy soft sculpture is more comforting than the phrase stitched on it.

Baby pink large pillow shaped soft sculpture, with the title repeatedly stitched on it in two columns of rows of baby pink yarn.
